KID'S EVENTS

To conquer the sport of Mutton Bustin', kids are loaded onto wooly sheep in individual chutes geared up with protective gear including helmets and vests. After the kids are straddled and ready to go, the animals are released into an arena when the little cowboys and cowgirls get six seconds to try and hang on to get their own bragging rights inside the Tejas arena. Every rider in each show receives a custom rodeo ribbon with the first place winners receiving a special engraved Mutton Bustin' buckle.

During the 2019 Rodeo event, there will be 4 separate runs with 10-15 entries per run. Registration will require a fee of $25 and parental release signed the day of the event beginning at 3:00 pm on Saturday and 12:00 pm on Sunday near the mechanical bull. Entries are first come, first serve. All gear will be supplied by Tejas Rodeo Company.

Some say the most entertaining sport in rodeo is the Calf Scramble in which kids ages 12 and under gather in the arena and prepare to match the speed of a herd of calves in order to acquire a ribbon tied to the tail of this out-manuvering, four-legged animal. When all the ribbons are then brought to the arena, the winners are announced and metals will be given for ultimate boasting rights.

This event is not cost and kids will be called on by the announcer at the start of the event. Runners will be called on to get a little dirty and sprint as fast as they can to outrun their opponents for the grand prize!
